Opera today unleashed the final version of Opera Mobile 10.1 for Symbian/Series 60 phones, with

significantly faster JavaScript performance for a speedy browsing experience. Making its debut in Opera Mobile 10.1 for Symbian is just-in-time compilation (JIT) performance optimization to the Carakan JavaScript engine, the same powerful engine that drives Opera’s desktop browser. Nokia today introduced new Nokia C2-01 And Nokia X2-01 QWERTY

Nokia today introduced new Nokia C2-01 an inexpensive 3G phone with a couple of neat features and Nokia X2-01, a device for social networking and fast communications. Both aim to offer maximum functionality for the lowest price possible, but with a different emphasis to each to provide a fit for the needs of as many people as possible. While the new devices have some features in common, it’ll make things easier if we describe them separately. Nokia C2-01:
The most important thing to know about the Nokia C2-01 is that this is our most inexpensive new 3G phone, so it promises to bring fast data services to millions of people who’ve never had them before. It’s a classic feature phone with the Series 40 operating system, traditional keypad, a 3.2-megapixel camera and a two-inch screen. There’s also a music player, FM radio, Bluetooth connectivity and it can handle memory cards up to 16GB. Note that, unlike the original Nokia C2-00, this is a single SIM device.
The device comes with Nokia Messaging for email and instant messaging. SMS and chat messages are now displayed in a conversational (threaded) view. You get the Ovi Store for new apps and Ovi Music for tunes. In selected markets, the Nokia C2-01 will come with the Ovi Life Tools service.
Physically, it’s 109.8 x 46.9 x 15.3mm and weighs 89g. It will be available from the first Quarter of 2011. The price is expected to be around €70, before local taxes and operator subsidies.


Nokia X2-01:
The Nokia X2-01 is a device for social networking and fast communications. It comes with a full QWERTY keypad and is aimed at those who can’t get enough of text messaging and status updates. This is bolstered by the new Communities app which integrates Facebook into the device. You can see friends’ updates directly from the homescreen and easily post your own updates and photos. With one click, you can dive into the application for a deeper view.
As befits an Xseries device, there’s also a healthy emphasis on music. There’s one click access to music, the media player, FM radio and the Ovi Music service, for unlimited access to a vast library of tunes, will be available in selected markets. There’s also Ovi Store, of course, for fresh apps. Ovi Life Tools will also be available in some territories.
It comes with a 2.4-inch QVGA screen and a VGA camera on the back. The Nokia X2-01 measures 119.4 x 59.8 x 14.3mm and weighs 107.5g. It supports memory cards up to 8GB. There’s no WiFi and only GPRS/EDGE data, but that’s compensated for by the low price.
The Nokia X2-01 is going to be available from this Quarter and the price is expected be around €80, before local taxes and operator subsidies are applied.

Lava B5 1st Phone with Rupee Symbol in Keypad

Lava B5 is the first Indian mobile phone with rupee symbol in its keypad. Lava Mobile announced Lava B5 mobile phone in India. This handset came to the Indian market with innovative new feature called Alpha keypad. The company states that it is a matter of pride for India to be the fifth nation having a currency symbol of its own. 


The company introduced this keypad, which offers keys arranged in ABCD order, on the basis that still majority of India is not familiar to computers, hence less comfortable with the QWERTY keypads.

Android is the One in Five Smartphones Sold in 2010

According to a survey Android surpass 55 million units worldwide and beat both the iPhone and BlackBerry in 2010, coming within spitting distance of market-leading Symbian. This survey done by Digitmes Research and the figure will give Google’s platform a 19.6 percent unit share of the global smartphone market estimated at 280 million units. This mean one in five smartphones in 2010 runs Google’s Android.

Samsung Nori a Phone for Young Women

Samsung just released a new phone for the Asiatic market, tagged Samsung  Nori (SHW-A220S). According to the Korean company this product has made specially for young women. The device will be available in South Korea for about 600,000 won (aprox. $511 USD). The phone targets people that like to customize their phone, but mostly youngsters who are quickly getting bored by their handsest. Its a mid-entry phone.
